Beira Airport serves Mozambique's second city and main Indian Ocean port, which was devastated by Cyclone Idai in 2019 and has been slowly rebuilding. Airlink and LAM Mozambique run scheduled flights from Johannesburg and Maputo, with traffic driven primarily by shipping, logistics and reconstruction-linked business. It is not a leisure destination for most South Africans but is the main air entry for Gorongosa National Park, an hour west.
