Flights to Durban
DUR · King Shaka International Airport
King Shaka International is 35km north of Durban at La Mercy and opened in 2010, replacing the old Louis Botha airport. It is the main coastal gateway to KwaZulu-Natal, the Drakensberg, the Battlefields and the south coast beaches, with frequent domestic flights from Johannesburg, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth plus direct services to Dubai and Doha. Durban's warm Indian Ocean climate makes it the default winter-break destination for South Africans, and international visitors use it as the drier-weather alternative to Cape Town between May and September.
