Cape Town to Accra is a long-haul Africa crossing that almost nobody does nonstop, because there is no nonstop. Ethiopian Airlines via Addis Ababa and Kenya Airways via Nairobi are the two realistic routing options for most of the year, with South African Airways occasionally code-sharing on the Ethiopian metal. The practical flight time is just under ten hours airborne, but the layover in Addis or Nairobi adds three to five hours — worth factoring into any plan that involves a tight connection in Accra. CemAir appears in aggregator results for this corridor but only as domestic feeder capacity into JNB, not as a through-carrier to Ghana.
Accra itself is not a routine leisure destination for South Africans; the traffic is mostly business, NGO, and diaspora. That demand profile means fares are relatively stable and not as holiday-spiked as the CPT-DUR or JNB-CPT corridors. February is the cheapest month in the data; June through August is the most expensive as European-based Ghanaian diaspora uses the northern summer to visit family. Booking four to six weeks out is generally enough outside the June-August window; within that window, eight to ten weeks is the safer play.
Kotoka International, Ghana's main airport, sits within Accra itself — about 10km from the Osu neighbourhood and the Atlantic seafront, which keeps airport transfers short by West African standards. South African passport holders can get a Ghana entry stamp on arrival for stays up to 30 days, though visa-on-arrival eligibility can shift; it is worth checking current requirements with the Ghana Immigration Service before departure. The local currency is the Ghanaian Cedi; carry some cash for the taxi rank outside arrivals, since card readers at smaller transfer desks are inconsistent.
