DUR — LVI
Regional Africa itineraries often price best when booked a few weeks out, especially if you compare direct regional carriers with one-stop hub options.

Livingstone sits on the Zambian bank of the Zambezi, directly across from Victoria Falls, and is the reason most people fly Durban to Livingstone. The 5h 35m journey is a connecting itinerary — there is no direct King Shaka to Harry Mwanga Nkumbula International service, and the routing goes through Johannesburg with SAA or Airlink on both sectors. Ethiopian is an alternative via Addis Ababa. With around two daily options through JNB, scheduling is not generous; if one departure does not work, the next realistic option may be the following day.
Livingstone Airport sits 5km from the town centre and is a compact, low-volume facility by southern African standards. The Zambian side of the falls offers Devil's Pool at the lip of the main cataract in the dry season (August to January), access to the Lower Zambezi valley, and Kafue National Park — a vast, less-visited park that draws serious safari travellers looking for an alternative to the Okavango or Kruger. South African passport holders need a Zambian visa, obtainable on arrival for USD 50 cash (single entry); the KAZA UniVisa for USD 50 covers both Zambia and Zimbabwe for those doing a twin-country Victoria Falls trip.
June through August is the peak window and the driest season — the Zambezi flow drops, revealing the full rock face and making the spray manageable enough for a clear view of the falls. February is the cheapest month, when the Zambezi runs high and misty but the dramatic volume and sound of the falls at peak water make for a different spectacle. Book three to six weeks out for the dry-season peak; outside June to August, two weeks of lead time is generally enough on a low-frequency route.
