May is the cheapest month in the data, and December through January is the peak window when school-holiday traffic from Johannesburg to the Eastern Cape coast competes with returning KwaZulu-Natal and Western Cape visitors. The Wild Coast's beach towns — Morgan Bay, Chintsa, Gonubie — pull Johannesburg families who cannot afford or time a longer Cape Town trip. East London itself serves a working port city and automotive manufacturing base that generates steady weekday business traffic independent of seasonal leisure patterns. King Phalo is a modest airport with a single domestic terminal, but its proximity to the city centre makes it one of the easier South African airports to navigate. The 10km drive into the CBD takes roughly 15 minutes; the beachfront suburbs of Nahoon and Beacon Bay are 20 to 30 minutes by road. There is no rail connection. Addo Elephant Park is a two-hour drive, and the start of the Wild Coast driving route is close enough to make East London a practical base for a week's Eastern Cape trip without the longer commitment of a full Garden Route.
