Kimberley Airport sits 7km south of the Northern Cape capital, and the Cape Town route is its busiest commercial lane. SAA, Airlink and CemAir share the 1h 35m sector, with Airlink running the highest frequency and SAA offering schedule alternatives at roughly similar fares. FlySafair does not serve Kimberley, which means this route behaves differently from the high-frequency JNB-CPT corridor — there is no ultra-low-cost price floor, and entry fares are higher relative to the distance than travellers used to the trunk routes might expect.

The passenger base is primarily government officials, mining administration and legal travellers moving between the Northern Cape's provincial seat and the legislative capital in Cape Town. Cape Town International at the other end handles the arrival at the domestic terminal efficiently — the concourse is compact and bags typically appear within fifteen minutes of landing. The MyCiTi bus connects the airport to the city centre and Atlantic Seaboard for around R100, though most Kimberley arrivals heading for the Western Cape legislative quarter use a rental or pre-arranged transfer. Book two to three weeks out for non-holiday travel on this thin route.
