Book Margate to Port Elizabeth Flights

Margate Airport serves the KwaZulu-Natal south coast holiday strip and operates a thin scheduled service -- CemAir runs the main link with one or so departures per day to Johannesburg as the primary route. Port Elizabeth does not appear as a direct Margate destination; travellers making this journey connect via OR Tambo, producing the listed five-hour-twenty-five-minute total. The demand base is almost entirely domestic leisure: Gauteng families heading to the Hibiscus Coast beaches in December and April, and the occasional Eastern Cape traveller in reverse.

Margate Airport is a small coastal airfield -- there are no international gates, limited retail, and no fuel-stop services. Capacity is constrained by the aircraft types that CemAir operates on the route, typically smaller turboprops or light jets rather than mainline capacity. December and April school holidays push the available seats to near-full; outside those windows, the Margate-PE itinerary is lightly used and the OR Tambo transit is rarely pressured.

For most Eastern Cape residents wanting to reach the KZN south coast beaches, the drive from Gqeberha to Margate via Port Shepstone takes under three hours on the N2 -- making the flight a convenience for those with time constraints rather than a necessary alternative to road travel. May is the cheapest month for fares; the December-January holiday peak is the expensive window when the Hibiscus Coast strip between Port Shepstone and Port Edward fills with Gauteng holiday-makers. Anyone planning this itinerary should book early in the season if travelling over Christmas, as the thin schedule leaves little room for last-minute availability.
