Maseru to Johannesburg is Airlink's shortest African crossing in both time and geographic distance - just over an hour in the air, linking Lesotho's capital with OR Tambo. Three daily departures give it a reasonable frequency for the size of the market, which is primarily government officials, diplomatic travellers, NGO professionals and occasional leisure visitors making the mountain kingdom connection. South African passport holders enter Lesotho visa-free, and the reverse applies for Basotho nationals at the South African end, keeping immigration at both airports efficient.

Moshoeshoe I International sits twenty kilometres south of Maseru in the lowland plateau, well below the dramatic mountain passes that cover most of Lesotho's interior. The runway and terminal handle Airlink's regional jets without difficulty. For context on the route's place in the transport mix: most South African day-visitors to Maseru drive across the Caledon River bridge at Maseru Bridge or Van Rooyens Gate, which adds roughly an hour from the Free State side. The air route is practical primarily for time-constrained business trips or for international travellers arriving at OR Tambo who then connect through to Maseru rather than attempting the road crossing.

November is the cheapest data point; peak pricing in June and July is partly driven by the government and diplomatic travel calendar, which doesn't follow the same seasonal logic as leisure routes. The cold highland winter at Maseru - frost is common in July, particularly at higher elevations - is paradoxically one of the more attractive periods for outdoor visitors, as the air is clear and the mountain light is exceptional. At one hour in the air, this route has one of the strongest drive-versus-fly trade-off arguments in the southern African network. That trade-off is why demand never gets large enough to justify additional frequency beyond Airlink's three daily rotations, even though the city is a national capital.
