Book Mthatha to Johannesburg Flights

Arrival planning should be built around OR Tambo International Airport, not only the city name Johannesburg. OR Tambo International is the busiest airport in Africa, handling roughly 21 million passengers a year and sitting 25km east of the Johannesburg CBD in Kempton. Gautrain connects OR Tambo directly to Sandton in about 15 minutes. Taxis and metered cabs are available at the Ground. The ground leg should be planned from the airport, not from the city name on the ticket. Because the trip begins at Mthatha Airport, leave enough slack for baggage and any handover before the first commitment after landing. A daylight or pre-arranged transfer can be worth more than the last small fare saving.

'The commercial story on Mthatha-Johannesburg is the airline mix: Airlink. Some options are useful for price, others for schedule discipline or through-ticketing, so sort by total travel time before treating a fare as cheap. The route shows inventory shown at around 3 choices per day, a 1h 20m duration and a demand profile built around business, family and onward-connection traffic. On this lane, a cleaner connection can be worth more than a small saving.'

'The calendar matters on Mthatha-Johannesburg: May is the softer month in the route data, while December-January is the window to treat carefully. Use six weeks for a narrow travel day as the buying range and judge each result against inventory shown at around 3 choices per day, not only against the headline fare. Same-day business hops tend to harden at the start and end of the working week. If two prices are close, choose the flight that protects the arrival day in Johannesburg. A late landing or long handover can erase the saving quickly. '
